Case Study: Ashgrove Farm

Categories: demolition, construction, insurance, listed building, architecture, structural engineering.

Fundamental issues with the pre-existing structures meant that this longstanding part of the local landscape required a dramatic full demolition and rebuild.

Crucial to the project was delivering as much of the old character and spirit of the original premesis as possible, but in new set of buildings which both conformed to modern standards and remained functional in every aspect as a family home.

Early works required total and careful demolition and removal of the original buildings, and the establishing of a full new set of foundations to the same footprint as the original buildings.

The adjoining barn, a listed building in its own right, had to undergo full internal and external propping in order to be underpinned and deconstructed course by course.

The reconstruction of all buildings has delivered an eclectic mix of the original farmstead with elements of modern functional and aesthetic excellence.
